For most of us ‘older’ people the 80s was a great time, we had New Romantics, disco dancing and great bands. There were also some fantastic films made in the 80s, like Back to the Future, Die Hard, and Top Gun with some memorable scenes and quotes, but for me one of the best was “Nobody puts Baby in a corner,”.
Dirty Dancing came onto our screen in 1987 and was set in a holiday camp in the Catskill Mountains. The film was about a young woman Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman (Jennifer Grey) that falls for the dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) after being invited to one of their parties where she witnesses the dirty dancing for the first time.

Is it just me or did the weather seem to be better in the 70s, I always remember going to the beach every day in the summer, a group of us swimming, relaxing or playing on the sand dunes. Well that was until 1977 the year, Jaws was released into our shores (screens), after that there was no way we were going into the water, even though we lived in Scotland, “Great White can still come and get you”, that’s what we told each other, so it was playing on the sand only for the rest of the summer.
As a kid I owned a Jaws t shirt the one where it looks like its bursting through your chest. It is great to see that you can still get this iconic monster. Pulling on the t shirt you still get that ‘Dum Dum…..Dum Dum…..Dum Dum…. Dum…’ Even now when out snorkelling I still have a look about.
